Digital Marketing Communications in Industrial Marketing (DIMAR)


Dr Heikki Karjaluoto, Professor of Mobile Marketing from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, visited Professor Feng Li and the SiDE Business Research Team in the Digital Economy Hub on 27-28 June 2011. A workshop was held on 28th June at Culture Lab, Newcastle at which researchers from both Jyvaskyla and Newcastle introduced their current projects and presented their research findings. Accompanying Professor Karjaluoto on this visit were two of his researchers, Aarne Töllinen and Joel Jarvinen. From Newcastle, Zilia, Kostas, Gosia and Suzana (KTP) presented their current research. The two teams also discussed issues of common interest and identified a number of areas for future collaboration. Feng and Heikki are also exploring opportunities for staff exchange, comparative studies, joint empirical work and publications. Professor Karjaluoto has just won a €1 million research project from TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) to investigate Digital Marketing Communications in Industrial Marketing (DIMAR) through social media. The project is jointly conducted by four Finish universities and 13 Business Partners. There is significant potential synergy between SiDE and DIMAR for mutually beneficial collaborations.
