Daniel Roggen
Daniel Roggen

 

Daniel is a research associate working in the Connected Home and Community activity area of the project.

He received his M.S. in microengineering in 2000 from the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He then worked for the company VisioWave (now belonging to General Electrics) in the optimization of wavelet-based video compression algorithms for video surveillance on Intel Itanium and IA-32 architectures, as well as various other video processing algorithms.

Thomas is an expert and post-doctoral researcher in machine learning and applied statistical pattern recognition. On SiDE he takes responsibility for activity recognition research within the Connected Home and Community activity. Thomas is currently funded the DFG (German Science Foundation) to work with Gregory Abowd at Georgia Tech, USA.
