Nils Hammerla

Nils is a PhD student funded by the Newcastle University’s School of Computing Science to work within SiDE’s Connected Community activity.

He works with a large cross-disciplinary supervision team including Peter Andras, Thomas Ploetz and Patrick Olivier (Computing Science), Lynn Rochester (Institute of Ageing and Health) and Richard Walker (Institute of Health and Society and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust). Nils is working on quantitative measures of human activity and in particular the detection of the severity of tremor and diskynesia in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
