CEx Launch event
The Creative Exchange local launch event was held at Culture Lab on 23rd February which provided the first opportunity for the Newcastle hub’s partners, academic collaborators and those with an interested in participating, to come together to discuss ideas. The event incorporated an overview of the Creative Exchange hub, demonstrations of ongoing research within Culture Lab and SiDE and was attended by representatives from Arts Council England, Microsoft Research and local organisations such as Tyne and Wear Museums,The Baltic, the Sage and local cultural organisations Helix Arts and ISIS Arts. The Creative Exchange is one of four Knowledge Exchange Hubs for the Creative Economy funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)to develop strategic partnerships with creative businesses and cultural organisations, to strengthen and diversify their collaborative research activities and increase the number of Arts and Humanities researchers actively engaged in research-based knowledge exchange. The hub is led by Lancaster University in partnership with Newcastle University and the Royal college of Art and delivered in collaboration with Future Everything. In addition to our Newcastle partners the Creative Exchange has a network of 41 other partners throughout the UK, including the BBC, MediaCity UK, Microsoft, TATE Liverpool, SAGE Gateshead, Opera North, NESTA, Lancaster City Council, the Storey Creative Industries Centre, Future Everything and over 30 SMEs working in the sector.
