Design work with Co-Opera featured in The Guardian
SiDE research carried out with the University of Hull, York University and Co-Opera has been featured in a recent article in the Guardian. The research aims to find out what synthetic-speech technology can learn from the voices of opera, building on research into the phenomenon known as ‘uncanny valley syndrome’. The SiDE project and Newcastle University are to play a leading role in the formation of a new regional consortium aimed at boosting the UK’s digital and creative industries. Led by Lancaster University in partnership with Newcastle and the Royal College of Art, the £4million hub – dubbed ‘The Creative Exchange’ – aims to address the changing digital landscape to inform the development of new products and services.
