New CraftCubes go to DMY Festival, Berlin
DMY Berlin is a key date on the international design calendar. This year the festival will be showing three new CraftCubes featuring work by ceramist Michael Eden, furniture-maker Gareth Neal and jewellery by Dr. Jayne Wallace.
The Crafts Council's new CraftCube programme offers a new way to see and learn about contemporary craft. It offers visitors a virtual experience of makers' practice, moving away from the traditional exhibition format to offer a walk-in, immersive experience. Large-scale audiovisuals reveal the techniques involved in making the objects on display bringing the whole making process to life.
The DMY International Design Festival 2010 will showcase inspirational new products and experimental prototypes in the field of contemporary design. Over 10.000 square meters filled with new work by internationally acclaimed designers and brands as well as experimental works by upcoming talents, the exhibition invites visitors to take part in five frantic and event-packed festival days.
